Production in British Columbia was four months in when the former lead Ryan Hurst had a serious on-set injury in late June. The plan was to resume filming after Hurst recovered from surgery on his torn bicep.
But that was too optimistic. A return to full strength from a serious bicep tear could have taken up to a year. Studios Sony Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios couldn’t wait that long and the hunt began for a replacement.
