Each national park is a main character with a different cultural and geographical identity. And that plays a role in Turner’s the emotional state of mind
What is Turner’s frame of mind.? He’s still recovering from the death of his son years before the beginning of season one, but leaving Yosemite is a first step towards recovery.
We’re dealing with the next stage of what he’s going through, how he’s processing,.There was the sadness and grief and all of that that lived in the first season. We’re trying to really make sure that we dig down and focus on the park matching Turner in a way– Elle Smith to Tuduum.

Season 2 will catch up with Turner a year and a half later, after he’s taken a lot of different cases in a lot of different national parks The case in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park will be far more “impactful”.

And it won’t be the same as Yosemite which Turner knew so well and felt comfortable leading the investigation despite the challenges. He’ll be on his “back foot” in the new park and will have to find his way like Lily Santiago’s new park ranger Naya Vasquez did in Yosemite in season one.

Will characters from Yosemite return for season 2?
We’re trying to figure that stuff out because my God, we loved our cast and we loved the characters that they brought to life. In an ideal world, we would be able to pull something off — Mark L. Smith to Tuduum.
