Prime Video’s God of War series will start filming from scratch this October in British Columbia now that Dave Bautista is officially replacing the injured Ryan Hurst in the lead role of Kratos.

Production on the live-action adaption of the popular ancient mythology game was four months in when Ryan Hurst had a serious on-set injury in late June. The plan was to resume production after the actor recovered from surgery on his torn bicep.
But that was optimistic. A return to full strength from a serious bicep tear could take up to a year.
Studios Sony Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios couldn’t wait that long and the hunt began for a replacement.
Now that Dave Bautista is officially the new Kratos, the completed episodes need to be reshot. Frederick E.O. Toye is returning to direct the first two.
What is God of War about?
God of War follows Kratos, Dave Bautista), the God of War, who, after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard.
When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son (Callum Vinson)to spread her ashes from the highest peak—his wife’s final wish.
Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new Gods and monsters for the fate of the world.
