Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans in San Francisco that was depicted in the BC-filmed 2014 blockbuster Godzilla,, the series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.

Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell and Kurt Russell ), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.

In the season finale, the much older Lee Shaw (Kurt Russell)reunites with the still young Dr. Keiko Miura (Mari Yamamoto), who’s been trapped in the Axis Mundi below the surface where time passes differently.

57 days for Keiko = 56 years on the surface.

Keiko’s granddaughter Cate Randa (Anna Sawai) convinces her to return to the surface even though her husband Bill Randa is dead and she’s missed decades of her son Hiroshi’s life. Sadly Lee Shaw is left behind when the capsule containing Keiko, Cate and May (Kiersey Clemons) is sucked into the portal.

The capsule emerges in 2017 on Skull Island at Apex Cybernetics’s Research Center where Keiko’s middle-aged son Hiroshi (Takehiro Hira) grandson Kentaro (Ren Watabe) and Tim (Joe Tippett) are working with Apex not Monarch. We hear King Kong roaring in the distance.

(Anna Sawai and Takehiro Hira are bigger stars now following the global success of BC-filmed Shogun — where Sawaii played the female lead Mariko and Hiro played a warlord Ishoda).

Will season 2 continue their story or jump ahead with new characters?
